Happy November

Happy November. To celebrate the new month and my new life due to the fact that I have worked my last day at the bank! I am hosting a week of giveaways. First up is this beautiful book-Farrow & Ball Living with Colour by Ros Byam Shaw and a colour chart to help you decide which colours to start with.

"Paint is the least expensive way to transform a room. And, unlike knocking down a wall or tiling a floor, it is not difficult to rectify if you have a made a mistake. Colour should be fun; at its best it is joyful." Ros Byam Shaw, Farrow & Ball Living With Colour.

Oh I remember the last day I worked in a bank: threw my name badge overarm into the office bin then practically danced out of the office - I might not have been best suited to that job!

Hello Jeska

Congratulations on leaving the bank (assume that is what you wanted?). I love your classy, stylish blog. It's great for ideas and inspiration. The F&B paint range is gorgeous, which colour to choose though?!

If you love aesthetically pleasing things, you might like Elizabeth Jane Howard's book The Beautiful Visit. The early 1980's paperback version with the Sue Wilks photograph on the cover, is fabulous!

I can't even believe you worked (past tense! Hoorah!) at a bank at all - well, now the world is your oyster (there is probably a F&B colour called oyster, or is it ointment?) Your creativity is now free - enjoy!

And what a lovely thing to do with 'give away week' - thank you!

OH! I've been getting ready to go and pick some Farrow and Ball colours. I've just moved into a new rental flat and the paint is awful. So far I haven't had the strength of will to prep and wall, but this could just be the inspiration I need to get going with the washing, polyfilling and sanding!
