Six of the best . . . Cushions

There's no quicker, easier way to update or re direct the design of any room than with new soft furnishings and cushions in my opinion are the best place to start. I love using found and repurposed fabric from favourite dresses and skirts that no longer fit or vintage curtains, to make quick decorative cushion covers. Who knew the old embellished Jigsaw cardigan that I shrunk would look so great on my sofa?

If you neither have the time or inclination to craft your own these six shops sell great collections of cushions and pillows. Here are my favourites. Top row, Odessa folk cushions - Plumo, Cottage Garden Cushions - RE-Found Objects, and Mulberry pink striped - Papa Stour.
Bottom row, Orangerie floral cushion - Designers Guild, Silk velvet - Toast, and Roses Vintage Retro - Plonka Home.

I've never thought of recycling pretty clothes into cushions before! I'm going to have a rifle through my wardrobe and unwearable clothes for some potential cushions :D

I was thinking of recycling some of the baby clothes my son grew out of into pillows for his room! Also love the pink ombre pillow!

Hello darling!

Erika and I adore your blog--it's one of our favourites. :)

So, I agree! New pillows are always a a good change to a room. And, repurposing old fabrics from thrifted clothing, etc. is a wonderful idea! Someday, when I've got my own house I shall definitely do that.

XOXO-

Colourful cushions are cool; love the 'in your face floral one'! I have a stash of great vintage fabric bought to make covers but sadly no time to do the necessary! hopefully this is going to change soon and I'll be able to put some creations up on my vintage etsy shop...

I adore that last cushion! You're right about cushions freshening up a room. I'm going to look in my closet to see if anything screams "cushion"!
