Stopped in my tracks

My newest love. I was stopped in my tracks today. Silent and still. Just adoring this, Heather's new collaboration. The Cup & Saucer Collective is a creative venture between photographer Rachel Saldana and artist Heather Smith Jones. Creating collections of art and handmade items.

As the leaves turn

As the leaves turn golden outside my window I am still pondering the whole red hair thing. Wandering from room to room, going about my morning routine. I guess if I really don't like it I can put dark over the top again.

The beaded beauty

I recently went on an etsy spending spree. I am now the proud owner of a whole bunch of stunning glass beads from the lovely Caladonia March. I want to bead everything in sight with these beauties. Add some rhine stones and a bit of Mata Hari style dressing up.

PS the frittata recipe can be found in Jamie Oliver's Italy cookbook. But it is just pan fried then baked eggs, herbs, flat leaf parsley, lemon, chili flakes and fresh raw prawns cooked till pink, salt and pepper. I served it with leaves and pan fried sweet potatoes.

flowers and wood grain.

I would be so much more psyched to be going to work this morning if I worked at the beautiful new saipua shop.

Dinner at the tides edge.

Wednesday was so hot and still. After work we drove to a lovely beach. One where my granny used to take us as children. We grilled chicken and ate it with fresh bread and olives. A root beer for thirst quenching. With our blanket and fire embers we waited for the stars to come out. If there was no work thursday we could have stayed all night.

three things from today

A new garland. Prawn and herb frittata lovingly prepared by my husband. How my favourite corner looks today.

What are three great things from your today?

Sunday lunch

A lovely Sunday. Up early. A little train ride. Window shopping. A yummy fresh baked pasty. A new red lipstick. A visit to the Air show. A glass of Pimms. Big plane. Fast planes. Loud planes. Back home in time for lunch.

Pea and parmesan and tomato basil bruschette with ham.

Pea and parmesan puree
In a food processor put a few mint leaves and a pinch on basil leaves with two good handfuls of fresh podded peas.
Add a large handful of parmesan, some olive oil and a good squeeze of lemon juice.
Blend.
Add salt and pepper to taste.

Tomato and basil topping
2 handfuls of cherry tomatoes seeds removed then chopped.
Pop in a bowl with a good pinch of greek basil leaves (I just like this type as the leaves are so tiny and perfect)
Olive oil, white balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with toasted bread and your favorite sliced ham.

Can't stay down for long.

Even though mail order is giving me some difficulties at the moment. Etsy does have a great side. Meeting people. The best thing about having an Etsy shop is all the wonderful people you meet. Buyers, sellers and people who share your tastes. Someone I have met recently is Jessica Goodman from Way side Violet "a student, a coffee lover, proud corgi owner, an admirer of pretty things and a devourer of literature".

I was very happy to be asked by Jess to answer a few questions for the first interview in a series about her favourite Esty sellers. We are also having a little giveaway with the interview. so pop on over and leave a coment to win.

See more from Jess, coffee snugs (like the one above) in her Shop and day to day life at Flickr.

Thank you again Jess.

stay calm

Quiet day at home. Trying to stay calm after finding out that the postal system has yet again lost one of my orders. Every time it happens I think I could just shut the shop. It is so upsetting to know that one of my hand made creations is lost or stolen somewhere.

Swathed swaddled draped and snuggled.

Swathed swaddled draped and snuggled. This is how I intend to spend Autumn 2009. Where better to find inspiration than the Fall Missoni Collection.

Striking red

Feeling like I could pop a sequin dress and high heels on and head out somewhere, anywhere but work today.

I have had my hair cut into a bob and am wondering if I should dye it a striking red colour?

Day after day

In between embellishing on this fine Wednesday, I have had time to share a watermelon and feta salad with my newly returned husband, read Elle magazine and pour myself a midweek cocktail.
I can't tell you how pleased I am that you return here day after day, especially when my posting is often so erratic. Each and every one of your comments is read and so appreciated.

I hope your midweek has been good too!
