Bakewell on the beach

Three almost perfect days. Saturday I went to view the house in the top photo. Met a friend for coffee and a delicious slice of lemon and poppy seed cake. Made collages big and small.

Sunday I got up early and cooked a bakewell tart for taking to a beach picnic with friends. The beautiful Ellen (bottom picture), Edith and Darren. The weather looked threatening but under the shelter of the wooden breakwaters we had a feast of bread, pate, cheese, cake and ginger beer.

Sunday evening I drank a little too much (happening all too often this year) and am now glad we have only one more party to attend this Summer.

Monday I mentally planned the snuggle down for Autumn. I look forward to carving pumpkins, drinking warm spiced tea, baking apple pie and wrapping up in cosy blankets.

how was your weekend?

What gorgeous photos! Love them all :)
My weekend featured far too much alcohol too... which led to far too much dancing all night at a wedding and an inability to walk the next day ;)
Feet on the mend, muscles still recovering... I'm too old for this! Thanks for such a beautiful post :) K

Looks and sounds really perfect indeed. Mine was nice too. I had a quite calm one with time to sit down and try out my new sewing machine which works like a dream. Great!

Hi Jeska
That house is beautiful - will you buy it? It looks like the kind of cottage to stay in for ever more...
Bakewell tart sounds delicious, I've never made one. Maybe because I'd have to eat it all myself (!) as Mr Bun doesn't like almonds...
We had a good weekend, continuing to celebrate his birthday, and then yesterday we had a mega, MEGA, "use it or lose it" session - great!
Happy week to you

My weekend was nice. I went for a jog in the park with my love, and then we later went out to an authentic Mexican restaurant to offset the run lol.

That last photo is SO precious!

My weekend was very nice, I went to my home town to stay at my parent´s. There, I rested, had dinner with friends, went shopping.

Now I look forward the weather to become a little more freezy (in Spain the heat wave is still terrible), watch films under the duvet, go to the Botanical Garden of Madrid, attend some exhibitions...to sum up, take indoor activities!

Your lunch sounds perfect. I might replicate for a spring version in Sydney on Sunday.

Lovely, reminds me of that van Morrison song "there'll be days like this."

Also noticed your (new?) tunic/dress in the banner and in photo 4 - is it linen? Beautiful aesthetic.

Cute house! Ours is very similar, although not so colourful. And that's a VERY professional-looking Bakewell tart! I am so excited about Autumn being in the air...

Oh yes, I can't wait for Autumn to really begin - it's my favorite season. I love your little package wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string, the collage, and your outfit is just adorable! Those jeans, sandals, and easy layered tops look so, so comfy!
