lingering in the kitchen

Pretty pleased with myself today. Last night when I got in, instead of hitting the couch (this happens too often these days) I lingered in the kitchen long enough to make some fresh strawberry ice cream. I am also reading this great book by Victoria Moore.

Now the baby pink ice cream is safely tucked up in the freezer, I have another project, the chair in the bottom photo was bestowed on me by a friend, but how should I recover/paint it? What do you think?

Hello, that's my first comment on your blog. I've been reading it for quite a long time now, and I love it, really. Your pictures are always wonderful, and your house is so sweet. I do admire that you change everything on your walls so often and that your meals are so good-looking. I always am inspired when I read you.
About your chair, I like the Liberty fabric cushion. I would keep it. As for the rest, what color is it ? Golden ? If yes I would repaint it, but if it is natural, maybe I would just wash it and leave it as is. I hope that helps :-)

I would paint it a creamy white and find an amazing floral chintz for the cushion.

Have fun!

Oh...I love the chair AND strawberry ice cream! :-) I would leave that fabric if at all possible - but if not stay something along those lines and maybe paint the chair white or off-white?

I love your blog!!! :-)

I really like that chair. I kind-of like it as it is. It looks nice next to the desk in the picture.

What a special find. I too love the fabric. I would paint it a turquiosey hue. Love the painted chair beside and love that as an accent color in a neutral home!

The fabric on the chair looks gorgeous, does it have to be replaced? If so maybe go for a similar style. As for painting it, I think that would depend on the fabric colour.
Homemade strawberry icecream...that sounds yummy.

love the chair! isn't too bad as it is I don't think... although maybe you could paint it a nice pale colour and recover with a bright floral? x

I think white is best, with a flower print seat.
