Billy und Hells

Stunning and moody all at once. I am overwhelmed by these photo's from Billy and Hells found via Emma cassi.

I know this post has the air of summer ending around it too, but the seasons that really spark my joy are Spring when everything starts to come back to life after the sleepy darkness of Winter and the drawing in of Autumn after a long balmy and stormy Summer. I will try to leave it here, but today I am excited at the prospect of wrapping up in a snug cardigan, big knitted socks on my feet and a cup of hot berry cordial containing a dash of port warming my hands.

I am keen to know how you like your seasons? What aspect of each season or small pleasures make you smile the most?

I'm a spring and autumn girl. Spring because everything's coming back to life and the sun comes back after winter's chilliness and the joy of spring flowers and banishing thick cardi's for t shirts and dresses. Autumn because of cold dark evenings snuggled up in front of the fire and new hats and scarves, big coats, pumpkin soup and crispy leaves. Autunm and spring are the only seasons that are proper in this country.

Oh, this has been exactly my feeling for the past few days...The need to wrap myself in something soft, like a cashmere sawl or something. :)

Beautiful photos! I agree! My favourite time of the year is Autumn...everything is golden and misty..it is spooky time of year and at this point, you welcome the cold a little as a nice change...that is, if you had a hot summer...that doesn't happen very often in England tho...

What great pictures.

I love Autumn when it starts to cool down and you can put on a shawl, or wrap up in a sweater for a bit of the morning before it warms up again. It's nice to feel cozy again after the summer heat.

Love those fog and mist pics! Living in Florida now, I don't get to appreciate the seasons as much anymore. But this spring went to Europe and I have never appreciated spring more! It was gorgeous the fields of rape seed and magnolia trees, daffodils, and tulips! Delightful... xoxo

Fall is coming up and it is my favorite season.
In the fall I love to visit my grandmother for an afternoon tea (with her favorite scones, of course). Often my cousin and our mothers are there as well. Usually afterwards my cousin and I go out for a walk or a bicycle ride, and smell the crisp fall air (which always smells best when somebody has a fire going).
When I am away at school, it is these little rituals that I miss most.

I love these photos, and I am completely with you about spring and fall. This fall I will be living on a small island in Maine, and it's almost all I can think about right now. This post just makes me long for it more!

Oh, those are haunting pictures. Personally, I love the late summer (end of July-early September). Between the soft summer storms, the smell of the trees and the sound of the cicadas, I feel in heaven. But the humming of the spring and the beauty of the autumn are in close seconds.

spring & autumn for me too, especially autumn with the hint of christmas in the air!

I am so cold natured, so I really love warm weather. However, there is just something about early fall that breaks my heart every year. The sky is so blue, the shadows so deep, and the air so crisp. I love it. (even if it does herald cold weather)

I love autumn, it is definitely my favourite season. I made myself put some blackberries and cooking apples back on the shelf in M&S the other day because it is really still too warm/early in the year for crumble or pie... (plus wild blackberries taste much better than the cultivated ones). I love that whole Sunday afternoon walk (preferably in a forest) followed by tea and crumpets thing, with stew and crumble for supper!

And I much prefer autumn/winter clothes - I really struggle in summer to find something to wear. Spring is probably my second-favourite season though - crisp, cool but sunny days are always a winner!

I would have said previously, Fall & Spring. And while they're still where I'm seasonally partial, there are things I also have come to really enjoy about Summer & Winter as well.

But it's the Fall-like aspects of these gorgeous photos that was a magnet for me! :)

This is tough... I think I love a little bit of them all! Cozying up in the winter, fresh flowers in the spring, flip flops in summer, and pumpkin pie in the fall!

These are beautiful photos. I love the richness in tone that autumn invites.

Summer is by far my favorite season. The sun, the swimming... My garden. An amazing cornucopia of available produce. And I truly LOVE wearing dresses. They are so freeing. You just can't do that in winter without leggings and sweaters and boots.

Autumn is my second favorite though, with, as I said, the richness in color tone and the perfect coolness. Not cold, not hot. Amazing.

Wow, atmospheric and stunning.

I'm a Spring and Winter Girl. Freshness and hibernation - both appeal.

When I grew up in the Southeast of the U.S., I quickly learned to love fall (despite going back to school!). In the southern Appalachians there is a tremendous diversity of deciduous tree species, leading to an incredible array of colors in a long autumn: russets, golds, flames, scarlets, rusts, maroons, purples...and there would be these curling mists wending their way through the ancient old "hollers" and juts and crags throughout that region. The air became crisp, the sun lingering long enough to emblazon the leaves before they fell. I would smell a far-off fruit-wood fire, and as the nights chilled, the tang of coal-smoke in the far hills.

The Pacific Northwest does experience fall, but there are nowhere near the number of tree species, and the most colorful are non-native. Fall in the Northwest means rain is on its way. There is a calmness that settles over everything, and yet an air of excitement too, and the harvests of the luscious markets hold sway over the dread of the gloom of the rainy winter.
Autumn is my most favorite time of year, no matter what side of this country I live on.

My favorite season is Summer (even though it gets unbelievably hot). I've also come to like winter after living in London for a bit.
