bye bye Paris

I am just about ready to say goodbye to Paris and finally acknowledge that I am back in old Blighty. Though I can't complain apart from the day job its been sunshine all the way.

So we spent most of our time walking and eating in Paris. The weather was so good we barely set foot inside, only to rest up at the end of the day in our sweet little apartment on a bustling street. We didn't go to any galleries. We will save them for next time, maybe Autumn when there is a chill in the air, when only a Picasso or a Monet can warm your heart.

We did drink a lot of coffee. We people watched. We covered a lot of ground. We browsed antique stores and lots of interior shops, Cote Bastide was so chic, lovely linens and glass wear.

We spent a couple of hours at the Mosquée de Paris and had an amazing lunch, super sticky buns for desert and lots of sweet mint tea. Little flocks of sparrows were flying around inside the restaurant perching on the moroccan lanterns waiting to grab a few crumbs of cous cous between the guests leaving and the waiters cleaning the tables. Well worth the walk off the beaten track.

Yes mostly we walked and ate. One morning we took a boat trip to save our feet for an hour or so. We saw a couple had hired a boat for their wedding reception. How lovely to spend an afternoon on the sunny Seine, sipping champagne with all your friends and family.

And finally of course the customary trip to Laduree, I am so happy we have one in London as I will be popping in there for more of these little sugar clouds every now and then.

P.S. hello again, just wondering... Can we see the finished article of that travel book you were going to compile on your adventures around Paris? Or is it private???

I just strung some lights around & across my pergola like these pictured in the post. Mine were clear, but I love the effect. My own little bistro way across the pond!
Au revoir,

Your pictures are just dreamy! I've tried a million times to capture the bird and flower market and didn't come close to yours. I love the strings of lights and, well, all of them! Have a great trip back, Paris will always be there!

I am so happy you chose to experience Paris the way it's meant to be. My daughter and I spent 8 days there doing the same thing. We ate, walked, took the metro, peole watched, ate so more and ended every evening at the Eiffel Tower and we never went up! My daughter said - who wants to see Paris without the tower?

I can't believe I can actually say this but I recognize the location in the picture with the strung lights.

It's Cour de Commerce St. Andre. I ate in that restaurant on the right. My husband had rabbit. What a lovely place. Did you peak down into the Cur de Rohan while you were there?

Why do I feel I DESERVE to be in Paris?

It sounds as though you had a wonderful time and the perfect weather! Great pictures - the breakfast looks scrummy, just my kind of start to the day. And, hey, there you are in the lovely Joules dress - you look very summery!
I hope the sunshine holds to help keep your holiday memories at the forefront.
Have a fab weekend.
