Vases of these wonderful flowers in every room. I am so in love with lilacs. Giddy with happiness the day I returned home with them, so glad such simple things complete my life. Already a little sad that their short life will be over before long, I still smile each time I walk in and see them. What are your favorite flowers?
Oh my, I am in love with lilacs, too! I had lilacs in my wedding bouquet, so their scent always reminds me of weddings and late spring and soft air and love. My other favorites are lily of the valley, tulips, and peonies.
Lucky you to have all those lilacs. Enjoy them while they last. I love flowers. Poppies, orchideas, lilacs, etc but recently I've been smiling everytime I come across wisteria. They are so beautiful and poetic.
These really are one of my favorites. The fragrance fills the house and it is divine. I need to go get me some. I am also newly in love with ranunculas for all their millions of layers of petals, and with columbine for their delicate, fairy-world shape.
they are so so pretty--i know how you feel about lilacs--they are the fleetingest...i love them too and wear Frederic Malle's perfume "en passant" because it lets me smell lilacs all year!
The lilacs look lovely against the white of your home. I love white tulips and daisies. I also have a thing for anenomes as they were my Nans favourite flower - i have fond memories of them. x
I can almost smell the lilacs! As an American currently living in Tibet (where it is still frigid and we only have a few brave blades of grass poking through) I miss the smell of the lilac bushes growing in the gardens of my childhood home.
Thank you for continually posting lovely and inspiring glimpses into your world; you certainly have a talent.
Beautiful photographs of one of my favorite flowers. Their smell is unparalleled. I've yet to find a fragrance that truly captures lilacs in their natural, glorious state
Lilacs are beautiful flowers, they remind me of my Grampy's garden as he had two trees growing just outside the kitchen door. As for my favourites, really anything which is old fashioned and country garden style. I adore the scent of stocks! And I love daisies (always sad when the lawn is mown). But at the moment in our garden, the wallflowers have such a range of muted colours and a wonderful smell too.
i love a dark colour-saturated dahlia, personally and roses (but they have to smell) and astrantia...I love the boxes you're putting together too. Where do they go?
Your lilacs are so beautiful and a wonderful series of photos too. My favourite cut-flowers for the house are lilies. In the garden I love acquilegas, clematis, sweet-peas and cottage garden flowers of any kind!!
I'm working on that, if I could choose it would be a mimosa-scented poppy. Everyone is blogging with purple flowers now, must be something in the air...
Hi, i have recently discovered your blog and love it. i really like your turquoise chair. Their is a article on lilacs in this months country living magazine. I hope you don't mind but I have tagged you, you can find details here http://nessdonnelly.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/ive-been-tagged/ Thanks Ness
Stunning pictures! I adore lilacs so much one of my favourites, top 3 I reckon. I haven't had any so far this year and I think they are fading now, but that scent.. mmm just perfect! Thank you for such a lovely post
oh so pretty! i love peonies, fresias, tulips and daffodils. pretty much any flower! although for some reason i don't like carnations, i think i get that from my mum because she always used to call them 'cheap' hehe, flower snobs.

lovely. so glad they're filling your home with pretty blooms and sweet smells!
Poppies are my very-favorites, with just about every other flower in the universe as runners-up. Poppies just can't beat lilacs' smell, though. Mmmm.
There is only one response for this blog.

Love your lilac photographs - I've been a fan since seeing a great lilac article in the last issue of Country Living! I love hyacinths too.
