how my sunday is shaping up

Early start today. My husband, sister, a few friends and a couple of thousand others are running a half marathon this morning. I am very proud of them all, its something I doubt I will ever attempt! So while they get started I am eating pancakes with mango and maple syrup, making a new york garland from the vintage NYC postcard set a friend gave me for my birthday, and gathering together a few things that have found me recently.

I will wander out in a while and find a place where I can stand and see my brave friends and loved ones run past.

wow, what a surprise that awaited me! i checked my mail as usual, assuming that it was the norm, advertising, the newspaper, but also a package! Hmm, i wasn't expecting anything? I went to the PO and was still wondering, who could of sent me this wee little box just because? And then, i opened it, and the smell of lavendar came pouring out, along with a beatiful wee garland that went instantly up in the kitchen window. The wreath was last, and was hung proudly on the handle of a shelf, right in the middle of the living room for all to see. Thank you, thank you, for making my day. I must say, I have had a pretty crappy week and this package couldn't have come at a more appropriate time nor had contained anything different to put a smile on my face. I hope this message tells you how thankful i am. have a fantastic spring and you can count on me to surprise you as well, just when you least expect it...

cheers, Erika

The people who lend their support are just as important as the runners - and goodness, I'd have stopped for those pancakes. Yummo.
