Womans best friend?

Good old Ralph Lauren home never fails to inspire. And I love the colour and texture mix in these pictures. Faded florals, patched denims, homely mutt. I am seeing a recurring theme with dogs around here, you can't beat a friendly hound when needing to add personality and warmth to a home setting. I have almost been tempted myself, I do love dogs and their cheeky personalities, if it wasn't for allergies, and If only they didn't molt. There is nothing glamourous about living life in a flurry of pet hair. And no I don't want a labradoodle.

I am well aware that I may be sucking all the joy out of having a dog with this post but I have to keep perspective. Maybe once I own that country cottage and go about my daily daily life wearing wellies and a wax jacket, maybe then it will be time for a dog. This one is already winning me over and it would be nice to have a little someone to keep me company on dark winter walks, especially when the husband is away. I would get a rescue dog. I have a friend who works at Battersea dogs home. I could bake home made dog treats and sew him a patch work bed. I can't look into this ones eyes anymore I think he knows.

Ooh I so would like a dog and those cushions and also the chair, but do you think Ralph would throw in someone to clean the dog mess up? We once had a friend with a Great Dane who came and visited. She promptly went to the toilet on one of our chairs. it was like a small Shetland pony had visited!

that picture is making me want a dog even more than I normally do. Although as you say they aggravate my asthma/ allergies and are messy and smelly- and they need an owner who doesn't have to leave them for 12 hours like me. Still I would love one, a short haired one.

I went to Battersea with a friend to adopt a dog, I just wanted to take them all home. They do a great job there.

I've always loved the way Ralph Lauren mixes florals and plaids and patterns.

Mmm, dreamy...I've just watched "Under the Tuscan Sun" and your post reminds me of Bramasole, that old Tuscan villa that the main character bought. Dreamy indeed ;)

A Mexican Hairless? Didn't think so. I want a dog, our neighbours have a huge black labradoodle and he's delicious. I want a mutt though, nothing beats a good mutt.

Oh, nice pictures too!

We have a mythical dog that goes with our mythical house in the country and our mythical lifestyle that allows us to stay at home all day to keep said dog company. Ah well, one day... (maybe!) Our dog of choice would be a lurcher, though, which actually might blend in fairly well with the Ralph linens...

I still have a Vogue print ad from Ralph Lauren in the mid-80s. Two beautiful golden Labs curled up in a cozy floral armchair in the quintessential English country manor home . . . Lauren really knows how to tap into our longings (in the most delightful way).

Ah . . . but after dating a man with two German Shepherd mixes for the past 6 months, I can tell you that the reality and fantasy are worlds apart. So sweet and loving, but you almost might as well have a child . . . ! Life changes irrevocably when there is a furry one to be fed, walked, cleaned up after . . .

well it looks as though we are all on the same track! If we club together we can save up and buy a little village and rescue at least seven dogs : )

My daughter is allergic to cats and dogs but we have a Llhassolier- a mix of a Llhasso Apso and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The Llhasso's have hair, not fur and are hypo allergenic, do not smell and do not shed-her fur is white and soft and doesn't have that oily feeling you get when you normally pet a dog. I have white furniture and she is welcome on it with no side effects. She resembles a mini sheep dog with a black nose and eyes with a pink tongue. My friends agree the most agreeable, adorable dog they ever knew. Great with kids, too. It is worth while to look into the new mixed breeds for all of their desireable qualities.

Forget the dog, I want the divine chair underneath it.
